 Empower Lives Through Literacy

As we celebrate 125 years of changing lives through literacy we remain inspired by the legacy of our founder Alfred Fitzpatrick's vision: "making every place a learning place".

United for Literacy works in partnership with communities to create accessible learning spaces. Our programs provide literacy support with the aim of bridging the literacy gap. This gap is the result of economic, political, and social factors. Yet, this literacy gap still exists for many because of challenging economic, political, and social environments.

Help us bridge the literacy gap in Canada.

United for Literacy's Solution

To address the urgent literacy gap in our country and empower more individuals and communities with essential reading, writing, and numeracy skills we are launching the 125th anniversary fundraising campaign.

Our Goal is to raise 10,000 gifts of $125.

Our programs are especially designed for those facing barriers or struggling within mainstream education systems. The 125th Campaign will enable us to reach more children and youth in underserved, remote, or isolated communities by offering more free, learner-centred tutoring and mentoring programs.

“I love getting to work with learners and see firsthand how they are gaining confidence. Their personalities shine more and more every week.”
